There is a method to the magic in the way Qool DJ Marv presents and plays music. He tunes into the atmosphere of the venue and the energy of the people, and then he blends what he sees with what he hears. Intertwining many styles for many faces from many places, Qool DJ Marv captivates you with his blend. The fluid flow and continuously ascending momentum of his wide-ranging sets is inviting, hypnotic, and breathtaking. Qool DJ Marv crafts an unforgettable feel good, get down party where everyone in the room will hear something that they enjoy. It’s as if he knew you were coming.
An inventive pioneer, Qool DJ Marv deliberately defies categorization to great effect. An evening of Qool DJ Marv may include a mind boggling array of selections spanning many eras and decades of music including R&B, Hip-Hop, Reggae, Latin, House, Jazz, Funk, Rock & Roll, Soul, and Disco classics, and Eclectic beats from around the world.
Since 1994, Marv has been producing mixed tapes/CD compilations that illuminate the many styles of music that he loves but have fallen short of major exposure and marketing. The series “Beats, Jazz, & Soul” and “Qool Classics” are adored by people from all walks of life from all over the globe. People enjoy the meticulous attention to the sequencing and the seamless continuity of the mixing. Qool DJ Marv has a way of introducing genre-defying songs to listeners who previously may have only preferred popular mainstream offerings.
It’s Qool DJ Marv’s laid-back demeanor and the playfully enchanting smile that you first notice. He is genuinely pleased to meet you and despite his even keel, he’s bubbling at the thought of what he has in store for your listening, dancing, and celebratory pleasure. There’s an exuberant idealism in Marv’s appealing mix that bridges us all – with a universal vibe, everybody gets down.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, POPPA SIM has always had a strong passion for music. SIM began rapping in his mid-teens, and at the age of 16 he began recording with the independent record label Custom Cutts. After a two-year stint with Custom Cutts, he was working and attending school when he was discovered by super producer Jeremy "Yogi" Graham, who paired SIM up with Morock and Freddy Blassy. The three then formed the group THE HOODFELLAZ. In 2001, THE HOODFELLAZ were signed to Hip-Hop mogul P. DIDDY’s label, BAD BOY RECORDS. While on the label as an artist, SIM also did some ghostwriting, writing for several artists including DIDDY. He artistically partook in the creation of hits such as "Peaches and Cream"remix feat. P.Diddy and Whitney Houston’s "WhatchuLookinAt" feat. P.Diddy... He also made appearances on songs such as "If u Want this Money" (alongside his fellow group members as well as P.Diddy and G-Dep) which can be found on "P. Diddy & The Bad Boy Family’s The Saga Continues" LP and Carl Thomas’ "Emotional Remix". He has also worked with many artists both within and outside the BAD BOY family. " In 2005, the trio came to the mutual decision to pursue solo careers. Recently, POPPA SIM has been working with super producers Sonny Carson, Reefer (of THE GAME’s "One Blood"), and long time friend BangOut (of 50 CENT’s "Disco Inferno"). He is currently working on several projects with the above-mentioned producers... Look out for Poppa Sim on his Freshman solo release titled "SAY CHEESE" coming soon...

WNYC 93.9FM is proud to bring you the New Sounds podcast. What is New Sounds? The program, broadcast nightly on WNYC 93.9 FM, and online at www.wnyc.org, is unlike any radio show you've ever heard: a whirlwind tour of new and unusual music from all corners of the globe. New Sounds combs recent recordings for one of the most informative and compelling hours on radio, and aims to make the world smaller. For over 25 years, host John Schaefer has been finding the melody in the rainforest and the rhythm in an orchestra of tin cans. Defying rigid categorization and genre pigeonholing, New Sounds offers new ways to hear the ancient language of song. With guest musicians from David Byrne to Meredith Monk to Ravi Shankar to Philip Glass to Christopher O'Riley to Bang On A Can, Schaefer presents performances (both in-studio and from the New Sounds Live concert series) and premieres new works from the classic and operatic to folk and jazz, and anything else in between. Each show has a theme, ranging from post-rock to klezmer to African blues to minimalism. The variety of cultures and styles explored is boundless. Music you may not have known existed and now can't live without.

Pool Party Radio is an amazing comedy podcast hosted by two very good-looking fellows. Fascinating topics include which NBA players we'd fight, who we'd hate to be stuck talking to at parties, which pro wrestlers we'd want to be on The Real World with and old internet jokes no one thinks are funny any more. We'll put on our robes and wizard hats as we welcome guest hosts and interviewees.

The show is released every Friday and contains the latest steampunk music and nonesense from DJ Capt. Proctor and his anemic automaton co-host ATUM (Amazing Talking Useless Machine). The show is an experimental hybrid, combining aspects of other podcasts popular with the steampunk community: The Clockwork Cabaret's entertaining babble, The World Domination Hour's avant-garde, steampod's steampunk development and news, and Dr. Steels witty coolness. All combined with the Captains misunderstanding of the modern world...sometimes...
