I’ve been a pilot for a major U.S. Carrier since 1989. Before that I flew A-10s for the Air Force. I was stationed at RAF Bentwaters in the UK, and then at McClellan AFB in California. I left the Air Force and then we won the cold war. I think it was just a coincidence

Welcome to Asia Pacific Matters: CAPI Interns Abroad and Beyond, brought to you by the Centre for Asia-Pacific Initiatives (CAPI) at the University of Victoria, in Victoria British Columbia, Canada.
Each year CAPI recruits students and graduates to participate in our International Internship Program. Our partner organizations, located in the Asia-Pacific, are all leaders and innovators in their fields, which range from environmental sustainability, resource management and conservation to human rights, migrants rights and HIV/AIDS prevention and awareness. CAPI Interns provide support to these organizations in their important work, while gaining valuable international work experience, research opportunities, network building, and language training.
Beginning in July 2009, participants of CAPI’s International Internship Program embarked on their adventures equipped with a digital audio recorder, and thus, the CAPI Intern podcast series was born. We hope that you enjoy listening to the stories about the inspiring work being done in communities across the Asia-Pacific region by current CAPI interns, intern alumni, and our amazing partner organizations in the region.

Lake Washington is the largest body of fresh water bordering the city of Seattle. Two floating bridges carry the traffic from Seattle to the Eastside communities, but in an earlier time these people crossed the lake by ferry boat and many of them landed in Kirkland. Today Kirkland is a waterfront community offering a charming, pedestrian-friendly downtown that beckons you to explore. This is a delightful one hour walking tour exploring 15 blocks on level or slight grades. The starting point for this tour is the Kirkland Library's free parking lot at 308 Kirkland Way. “Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts”. So said Mark Twain, and Kevin Dolgin has always agreed. Years ago, having decided to open his own mind, he found himself afflicted with a serious case of wanderlust, which he now hopes to spread to others through this show. A perfect travel companion, with only a slightly eccentric eye, Kevin reveals destinations around the world, seeking out and speaking with locals, inveterate travelers and the occasional oddball. Not so much concerned with the practicalities of travel, WANDERLUST is, itself, a little voyage into the odd corners, little known crannies and unexpected adventures of life .
